Place in the world
Japan develops two distinct forms: the 26-part 2D television series Cheburashka Arere?, beginning in October 2009, and a stop-motion feature released in 2010. The feature revisits the original meeting and adds circus and advice-bureau adventures. Different theatrical and disc editions select different segments, so a new package is not automatically a new story.
TV Tokyo announced the series for 7 October 2009 in its Norisuta programme. These 26 short drawn episodes make ordinary days their subject: shopping, reading, play, worry and reassurance. Gena, Cheburashka, Galya, Chandr, Shapoklyak and Lariska share a small social world. This is a separate Japanese adaptation, not 26 missing Soviet puppet films.
