Cheburashka: I Found a Friend
チェブラーシカ -ともだち、みつけた-
Story through the endingThe 4-minute-27-second web short was released on 22 April 2020. Gena opens an orange crate at the zoo and meets Cheburashka. To attract visitors, they imitate popular animals with costumes, but the plan fails. When a boy is pushed aside by the crowd and cries, Gena plays his instrument and Cheburashka dances. The boy smiles: kindness achieves what copying popular animals could not.
Story & key events
Plot details and spoilers ahead.
Keep five shelves separate: the books, Soviet puppet films, Japanese adaptations, new Russian animation and live action. Names and images travel between them, but events do not automatically transfer. A crocodile employee, a human grandfather and a bureau founder can be related interpretations without sharing a single life.
Place in the world
Japan develops two distinct forms: the 26-part 2D television series Cheburashka Arere?, beginning in October 2009, and a stop-motion feature released in 2010. The feature revisits the original meeting and adds circus and advice-bureau adventures. Different theatrical and disc editions select different segments, so a new package is not automatically a new story.
