Flying Gena
Летающий Гена
Story through the endingAt the riverside, children struggle to inflate a rubber boat with a bicycle pump. Gena offers to do it with his mouth. The pressure works backwards: he inflates into a ball and flies around when he opens his jaws. After recovering he accepts the pump. This is a comic accident, not a permanent flying power or a new species of crocodile.

A new cover, illustrator, reading exercise or abridged extract is not automatically a new story. This catalogue groups reprints under their underlying work. Dates preceded by ≤ establish that a text was available by that year; they do not claim a verified first publication.
Place in the world
The books are the first branch of the world, beginning with Eduard Uspensky’s 1966 story. People and speaking animals work, rent homes and make friends in the same town. Later texts range from gentle children’s adventures to satire about business, bureaucracy and crime; they do not form one seamless screen chronology.
Keep five shelves separate: the books, Soviet puppet films, Japanese adaptations, new Russian animation and live action. Names and images travel between them, but events do not automatically transfer. A crocodile employee, a human grandfather and a bureau founder can be related interpretations without sharing a single life.
